Alex, I heard about your grandfather from a phone call at camp where I spent the week-end. I'm so sorry. He was my go-to guy for so many things re music/players from the Ridge and the CCB. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Give my best to Ruth and all his kids. I am so fortunate to have met him.
Bill (Murphy)
He was my favorite 5th stepper (listener)...so short on words, to the point, do-able penance and you were outa there..."phewww, I got Bob this month".....!
Hey Carolyn, this is great! What a great tribute to Dad! some how this got filed in a corner of my computer, story of my life. I feel a bit delinquent about not being up with this, but am inspired by all the inspirational memories/comments.
ReplyDeleteI still think we all may be somewhat in shock, thought that Dad would just somehow always be there... "Hey, come talk to me sometime...Yeah, Dad, when I get a minute.." Now I wish, with some of the rough times with family/work/life, I could take him up on that oft repeated offer.
Noel just told me recently how I should be taking Dad as a family raising role model. Growing up, I may have thought him too straight and narrow at times, but as a dad myself, I start to see the wisdom there--aim high or you'll hit the side of the pool.
I've saved most my old 4th steps, just for the stuff on the back that Dad said, the one time a month that I really listened, like "rejoice evermore, in all things give thanks, and the last one 1/4/09, try to remember His presence, and act accordingly, and talk to me tomorrow"-- I think I actually did it.
Keep up the good work, I'll try to keep up.
Uncle Andy.
